Launch of the Updated Global Humanitarian Context: A 2025 Analysis

The Humanitarian Response Network (HRN) of Canada is pleased to release an updated brief on the Global Humanitarian Context, reflecting major shifts and trends in the humanitarian landscape as of mid-2025. 

This publication builds on HRN’s 2023 landscape analysis and offers an overview of the evolving global context in which HRN and its 50+ member organizations operate. The brief outlines key developments in conflict, displacement, humanitarian needs, and respect for international humanitarian law, highlighting implications for Canadian humanitarian actors.

Gender Equality in Humanitarian Assistance 

On May 2, 2019 the Canadian Red Cross and Humanitarian Response Network co-hosted an event in Ottawa, Canada. The Gender Equality in Humanitarian Assistance Event brought together practitioners from the Canadian humanitarian community and the Government of Canada in a spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing in order to strengthen our work. This report highlights the experience and experience-based recommendations of more than 25 humanitarian organisations, as shared in the discussions framed by the 11 UN OCHA global coordination clusters.
