Launch of the 2026 Edition of HRN’s Global Humanitarian Context Analysis
The Canadian Humanitarian Response Network (HRN) is pleased to publish the 2026 edition of its Global Humanitarian Context Analysis. This update builds on the analyses previously released by HRN in 2023 and 2025 and highlights the major developments and trends currently shaping the global humanitarian environment.
The document provides an overview of the complex context in which HRN and its more than 50 member organizations are operating, as humanitarian needs continue to rise amid protracted conflicts, record levels of forced displacement, growing pressure on humanitarian financing, and increasing challenges to respect for international humanitarian law.
This 2026 edition examines key developments affecting the international humanitarian system, including shifting geopolitical dynamics, evolving funding mechanisms, localization challenges, and the implications for Canadian humanitarian actors. It aims to support strategic reflection, collective learning, and sector-wide discussions within the network and beyond.
